Magnolia Pictures is the theatrical and home entertainment distribution arm of the Wagner/Cuban companies, a group of media properties that also includes the Landmark Theatres chain and AXS TV. They were looking for a partner to design and deliver OTT distribution and SVOD for its genre-based library. They needed an innovative and flexible partner with deep experience running SVOD across many platforms, who could help them reach and serve disparate target audiences. We first built genre-based channels on our own consumer site, OWNZONES.com. Those channels included:

  • DOX – A documentary collection
  • Warriors & Gangsters with MMA fights
  • Monsters & Nightmares.

Building on the success of these channels, Magnolia looked to us to expand their brand across multiple platforms as well as create their own OTT destination where they could expand and engage their fan bases.  Our content management system made it easy for Magnolia to distribute their library to multiple global platforms all at the same time. In addition, the subscription, rental, and downloads are all handled by OWNZONES Media Network, while the data and transactional information can be accessed by Magnolia in real-time on an easy-to-use, web-based dashboard. The warriorsandgangsters.com bespoke site has launched and native iOS and Android apps are on track to deploy shortly. Now their fans can engage with Magnolia through the Landmark Theatres Film Club, AXS TV, and social media properties to drive new audiences and subscribers to their bespoke properties. Magnolia is also using our targeted distribution capabilities to deliver select libraries to platforms such as Fite, an app for mixed martial arts, boxing, wrestling, and other action sports.
