NETFLIX DESIGNATES OWNZONES CONNECT A MEMBER OF NEW ‘POST TECHNOLOGY ALLIANCE’
September 17, 2018 (Beverly Hills and Amsterdam) – Ownzones Entertainment Technologies, (“Ownzones”) today announced that Ownzones Connect™, the innovative new cloud-based solution that enables entertainment companies to manage and deliver video efficiently and securely, has been selected by Netflix to be part of Netflix’s new Post Technology Alliance, a program for manufacturers committed to serving the evolving needs of the post-production community through innovation and support. Ownzones Connect provides content owners and post-production facilities with a lightning-fast, cost-effective, cloud solution for processing and transferring video to any major streaming or broadcasting platform.
Manufacturers of products bearing the Post Technology Alliance logo are closely partnered with Netflix. They have early access to the Netflix technical roadmap and collaborate with Netflix on technical support, training, and updates. The Post Technology Alliance logo signals that a product meets and will continue to meet Netflix’s high quality technical and delivery specifications.
“At Netflix, empowering our creative partners is incredibly important, and the Post Technology Alliance program will build a more seamless experience from production through post-production,” said Chris Fetner, Director of Post Partnerships and Integrations at Netflix. “Products that bear the logo are committed to better interoperability and faster innovation cycles, which will allow artists to focus their energy on what matters most—the storytelling.”
Ownzones CEO Dan Goman added: “Our inclusion in the Netflix Post Technology Alliance is a huge vote of confidence in our technology and in Ownzones as a trusted service provider to entertainment companies that supply content to Netflix. Ownzones thrives in the evolving entertainment and tech landscape as the partner companies need today for tomorrow’s transformational changes, bringing complete video supply chain and monetization solutions under our customers’ command.”
“We are proud to maintain momentum and add this important Netflix certification to Ownzones Connect’s other impressive validations by technology leaders including Amazon Web Services (Advanced Technology Partner) and Dolby (Vision Facility Certification),” said Nick Nelson, Head of Product and Innovation at Ownzones.
Ownzones Connect is a cloud-native video supply chain platform that requires only operational costs, scales to need, and offers total transparency on every single operation. Ownzones Connect is poised to transform the entertainment industry’s video supply chain with its on-demand, software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution. Hosted in the cloud through Amazon Web Services, Connect eliminates the need for studios and post-production houses to continually make capital investments in data servers and allows them to rapidly deliver any format to any platform, including IMF packages.
Benefits of the Ownzones platform include:
- Transcoding video content up to 35 times faster thanks to proprietary parallel-scaling technology
- Providing better quality control in the workflow with AI file assessments that can capture up to 90% of common issues
- Enabling a single individual to have full control and oversight of all titles and replacing multiple disconnected vendors and differing guidelines with an all-in-one solution
- Providing the scalability of a cloud-based infrastructure that works with any project scope or deliverable
- Reducing costs by as much as 90%
Ownzones Connect supports the SMPTE Interoperable Master Format (IMF), which is on track to become the industry standard for storing and transferring digital video files. Netflix already uses IMF to store its masters in the cloud.
The Ownzones team has extensive expertise in the IMF framework, which is exceptionally efficient for handling the numerous content versions required for worldwide distribution. Rather than storing hundreds or even thousands of localized versions of each film or television show, requiring vast amounts of digital storage, IMF stores a single set of core assets plus the unique elements needed to localize those assets for each territory.
Ownzones is currently attending IBC 2018, Europe’s largest media, entertainment and technology show, being held in Amsterdam from September 13-18. Ownzones is showcasing its products in Amazon Web Service’s exhibit space. Anyone attending the show interested in learning more about Ownzones’ technology should email solutions@Ownzones.com or stop by booth 5.C80.
